Walking out of the grocery store on Sunday, I looked up and was amazed at the streaks of white crisscrossing the sky. To me, it looked like someone had taken a brush and made random streaks of white paint on a textured canvas.
I’ve always been fascinated with contrails, the ice crystal trails left behind when a jet passes overhead. To me, it’s like someone leaving footprints in the snow, a trail to follow.
Have you seen so many streaks in the sky like this?
RB
Like randon pencil strokes in sky! Nice capture, Richard!
Many thanks!
I see them frequently as the aircraft that cause the skinny clouds fly high over my flyover state. Those that are visible at night during Full Moon phases are the ones that haunt me the most.
Oh, I imagine those have a certain…eeriness to them. I think I have too much light pollution around my house to get a good view of the nighttime contrails.
I see them all the time, but never so defined and perfect, like someone slashed the canvas of the sky…beautiful, Richard! 💞
Thank you so much, Dawn! I had a lucky opportunity to capture this. I’m glad you enjoyed the photo.
It’s funny, when I am in a plane I always wonder who will look up and see the plane, possibly dreaming of their own vacation or just arrived back from one.
When I am the one on the ground, I wonder where the people on the plane are going to and if anyone is scared of flying, how the snacks are and such things.
Almost like a parallel world.
Love the photo! What a perfect way to look up to the sky and dream away 🙂🙂
Thank you, Andrea!
I have those thoughts myself. Even though I don’t travel much now, I still think of flying in the sky as a magical experience. ✈️
I have seen it Richard, but at the most one or two lines, not as many at a time as are seen in this photograph.
Same here, Nusrat. I’m still wondering how so many appeared this one morning. A busy day for the airlines, I suppose. 🙂
Not long ago I saw two contrails forming a perfect X. They don’t usually line up so well, but I see an x shape in your photo. I believe there are conspiracy theories about contrails too.
Ugh, yes, there are conspiracy theories about them, and my state government has “banned” them. How do you ban a naturally occurring phenomenon? Crazy times we live in…
I’d love to see a perfect criss-cross of them. I wonder if that marked the spot of some treasure! 😉
Sadly, I didn’t get a photo. 😄
Contrails have always fascinated me since I was a kid, but I think at some point I stopped looking up at them. This is a great reminder to stop and take a look around every once in a while. Thanks for sharing!
That’s great to know, Alex. There’s a lot to see up there on occasion.
Thanks!
I’ve seen them but not as many as in your photo.
I think this was a rare opportunity, Sheree. Thanks for stopping by!
I always imagine all those people. Where are they headed? What lives are they living?
Same here. Just like when I’m in a plane and looking down at all those houses, all that land. It’s nice to see the world from a different perspective every now and then. 🙂
I have never seen such streaks in the sky. Great photography.
Thank you, my friend!
That’s a great shot!
Thanks, Wayne. It was a lucky one!
Not in a while, Richard.
Glad to know I’m not the only one. 🙂
