I found these inky cap mushrooms growing at the base of one of my raised garden beds. From what I read on Google, they tend to appear around rotting wood. Which makes sense. When I set up a raised bed, I fill it halfway with branches, small tree limbs, leaves, and other debris. That way, I don’t have to use as much soil and everything composts.
My guess is that there wasn’t enough room inside the bed, so these guys popped out to get some fresh air.
Of course, as with all mushrooms, I’m not going to do anything with them. I’ll leave them to their work – breaking down the wood debris so my plants get the nutrients.
These aren’t as cute as the mushroom I posted last week, but they still have some personality.
What do you think?

This year one lone mushroom sprouted under the champa tree. I must post a pic.
Only one? I hope you get to see more!
ππ
Hope so too
A lovely frame.
Thank you!
I love mushrooms, another opportunity for fairies but also they are so integral for the earth. ππ
Same here, Morag. I’m always happy to see them popping up around the garden. A sign of healthy soil.

Definite personality in these ones…trying to decide if they are gathering around something to investigate, or clustered together to hide from something, hoping their caps will disguise them enough to stay safe….
Oh, I think I sense a story brewing…. π
I felt the same way. A little gathering of some sort. Hopefully, it’s not a conspiracy!
Hopefully not! Sneak up on them and see if you can eavesdrop…..
Your mushrooms evoke forest stories about wilderness adventures.
I’m glad to know that, Swabby. Mushrooms have a magical, rustic charm about them.
Very spectacular, Richard.
Much appreciated, Pat. π
I like the looks of those mushrooms a lot. To me, they are very classy.
I agree, my friend! Thank you for stopping by.
I would title the picture: Mushroom Encampment.
LOL! I like that, Jasper. It does look like a family gathering. π
Exactly Richard, they grow around rotting wood.
Are edible mushroom available at your place?
I think I have a few edible mushrooms that grow in my yard, but I’m not an expert and wouldn’t try one! Years ago, I spread mushroom compost in my yard as fertilizer (I had gotten it from a local mushroom farm). Since then, I’ve had hundreds of mushrooms popping up during the warm weather.
They have their own charm
That they do, Sheree. Thank you. π

Umbrella producers need to learn from mushrooms!
This shape would be way more useful than what is in store these days π
I like how they are huddled around each other though! They must be up to something π
I thought that, as well, Andrea. Perhaps there’s a conspiracy afoot! π
I love these too!
That makes me happy, Luisa! Thank you. π
You’re most welcome!
I think there is something magical about mushrooms and love finding/looking at them. If there is a plant totem, these would stand for peace and happiness.
I love that idea, Miss Parker. I’m always fascinated by mushrooms and spotting them when out for a walk. π
