While the image above may look like an abstract painting, it’s actually a photo I took recently. This is sunlight filtered through window blinds and reflecting on a wall in my home. It caught my eye one hot afternoon. I tend to keep the blinds closed in the heat of the day to keep the house cool, and this was a happy accident.
The more I looked at it, the more it seemed like a silhouette of a figure. At first I thought it might be a woman with curlers in her hair. Then again, it could be a robot, or perhaps an alien.
What do you see?

Science gives a lot of explanations for such phenomena, but an artist simply captures it in the camera.
Beautiful shot, Richard.
Thank you so much, Nusrat. Imagination can make life a little more interesting. 🙂
I’m clueless, but awesome picture, Richard! 💞
Think of it like one of those ink blot tests, but without the therapy. 🙂
Thanks for the compliment, my friend. 🌷
LOL, I’ve never been good at the ink blot tests, yet I can see a perfectly ordinary ‘thing’ and take it in an extraordinary direction. I wonder what that says about me and my brain?
I think it shows you are grounded in reality, but can see the possibilities. 🙂
💞
This is really a great capture.
Thank you so much!
Without the explanation the image would simply baffle me. ….and that’s alright. Some days I find myself in situations that are totally baffling. Thanks for the picture, Richard
Everything is open to interpretation, and being baffled is just another day. Thank you for stopping by, Jasper.
I see a gentle twister / hurricane… it’s quite lovely!
I like the idea of a gentle twister, Linda. 🙂
I think it’s someone from outside of time trying to give you a message, like in Interstellar.
I like it! Thanks for sharing your view, Michelle. 🙂
You have an artist’s eye Richard
That’s very kind of you, Sheree. Thank you. ♥️
As always, I am going to be dark 😉
I see an ear on the on thr left which makes me think the faded light is a face trying to look out of a…prison window.
This reminds me about one of my art classes which had a test wuestion “what do you interpret from this picture”. It was never about the “right answer”, there was none. But more so about the reasoning.
I just remember my answer was different than from most of my classmates.
Love this! It reminds me of how each of us unique 🙂
Oh, I see that now, Andrea. Very interesting interpretation. 🙂
I agree. I love to post images and read all the different interpretations and views people have. Of course, I always expect yours to be on the dark side…. 💀
Low the shadowy, black & white photograph, Richard.
Thank you so much, Pat.
A cat (lower left) climbing a spiral pole.
I like that, Miss Parker! I just hope the cat doesn’t scratch up my wall. 🙂
😂
That’s a great photo Richard.
Thanks, Wayne! I’m glad you like it. 🙂
I really do. You could print that.
I see a space alien lurking. BTW, I love to capture light filtering through windows and Venetian blinds. I parked a crystal prism on one windowsill. This creates many illuminating possibilities.
Oh, I like the space alien view!
I imagine the crystal does offer some beautiful moments. I hope you can capture and share a few. 🙂
