I snapped the photo above on Saturday morning. I was looking south, towards the Gulf of Mexico, and was mesmerized by the colors in the sky. I was also impressed with the large thunderhead building down on the coastline (that’s it in the lower-right corner of the photo).
Pink and blue, shades of gray,
heralding in the newborn day.
Sun is hidden, soon to rise,
to brighten up the moody skies.
Birdsong fills the dewy air,
I smile and feel without a care.
Heart is pumping and begins to sing,
who knows what the day may bring?
I hope you have the chance to see a beautiful sunrise (or sunset!) recently.

Stunning photo. A beautiful poem to go with it.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the kindness.
There is interesting dualism in your photo. Pastel blue and pink of optimism coupled with shadowy, threatening storm clouds.
Thank you for noticing that, Swabby. That thunderhead never made it far inland, but we could hear the rumbles in the distance with a blue sky overhead.
Now I want cotton candy! It is what your picture reminds me of.
Though, that much sugar would probably make me hyper and your poem and picture are soothing and relaxing!
The days are finally getting shorter in Denmark, so I actually get to see the sunset before I fall asleep 😀
Oh, that’s a great view, Andrea. Now I see it as cotton candy, as well! 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed the photo and poem. Inspiration caught me by surprise.
And I imagine it’ll help you get to sleep easier with it being darker outside! 😴
Lovely work
Thank you, my friend.
Gorgeous!
Glad you like it! 🙂
What a beautiful sunrise, Richard
And then you have adorned it with a wonderful poem.
You’re too kind, Nusrat. Thank you. 🙂
Great photo, Richard.
This morning’s sunrise along the north shore of Lake Ontario was a bit unusual. There was a large cloud bank towards the lake and then patches of mist at a few different elevations.
Somehow it is strange to make a distinction between cloud and mist. When it’s foggy out I usually comment that the cloud has landed.
LOL…I do the same, Jasper. Aren’t they all just clouds at different elevations? 🙂
That must have been an interesting sunrise to watch.
Understandable, that’s beautiful!
I’m glad to know you enjoy the photo, Sheree. 🙂
Wonderful poem for a fabulous image!
I appreciate the kind words, Luisa! 🙂
You are very welcome! It is always a pleasure to connect with you here. 🙂
Beautiful poem, Richard.
Thank you, Pat. 🙂
Stunning photo and gorgeous poem, Richard! 💞 What a hope filled start to the day! 💞
I appreciate it, Dawn. ☀️
Absolutely stunning! You can’t beat a good sunrise / sunset.
Thank you, Wayne! 🙂
