I have this cool floor lamp (from a company called Govee) that connects to an app on my phone. With it, I can change the color of the three lights, create patterns, and set up color combinations. It’s perfect for setting a mood.
Recently, I was walking through the room while it was storming outside and I noticed how the light and shadow played along the wall. I grabbed my camera and took the photo above.
The black shadows, the soft purple, and the hint of off-white to the side seemed like a perfect combination.
Please let me know what you think of the photo in the comments. Oh, and happy Photography Day!

I’m glad you were able to post, Linda! 🙂
WordPress is being glitchy again… 🤞
I looked into it and it may be a cache issue. I cleared the cache on my blog, but you may want to try clearing on your end (if you’re using a browser). It may be due to an expired cookie. Or maybe it’s just WordPress…. 🙁
Oh – that sounds like it might be my-bad… I do love a good cookie, so I wouldn’t be surprised if my computer needs a clean out! I’ll look into it – thank you!
Intriguing. Mysterious. I like that electric blue.
Thank you so much, my friend!
Fascinating photo, I can see why you wanted to capture the image. It’s a stunning purple 🟣
Thank you, Morag. I love to find and capture these passing moments. 🙂
Photography is basically light play. The purple tone came pre-filtered and ready for your imagination to frame it. Nicely done.
Coming from you, Swabby, that means a lot. Thank you.
We’re somewhat on the same wavelength. 😉
How very cool, Richard! 💞
I try, Dawn! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
Great observation
Thank you, Sheree. 🙂
Very cool image. Be careful, Romeo…
LOL…thank you, Pat. 🙂
😘
Purple is one of the most versitile colours in my opnion.
If can be soft and calming, like lavander.
It can be dark and mysterious.
It can be warm and inviting, closer to a warm pink.
In these shadows I almost see a dark swan from a ballet or a mysterious pegasus.
Great shot!
Despite living in our apartment for 6 or 7 yrs now, we were just too lazy to instal any actual lights. So our main light source is the blue/purple-ish ligh from the aquarium and I love it so much more than the bright white/yellow light regular lamps give!
That’s a great assessment, Andrea. It is one of the most versatile colors (and one of my favorites).
I do miss my aquarium lights. They were wonderful at night, that soft glow that gave the room a lovely ambiance. 🐠
