Here are a few of the flowers blooming around my house this past week. I’m particularly proud of the sunflowers. Yes, that is six flowers on the top of one stalk! I had no idea sunflowers would bloom like this.
Let me know if any of these caught your eye.

I am also a fan of the tomatoes.
Who knew that all you needed to go viral was a photo of some humble tomatoes on a windowsill! I did a double-take, expecting all flower photos, and then thought.. hey, nice tomatoes! Kinda like Ferris Bueller when he jumps over the hedge, runs through a garden, and then walks back to introduce himself to the two sunbathing ladies.
That’s exactly what it’s like…
LOL! I’m glad you enjoyed them, my friend. I’m sure there will be more tomatoes in the coming weeks (if I can keep the plants alive in this heatwave we’re having).
And now I have the urge to rewatch Ferris Bueller again. 🙂
Beautiful blooms! The six-headed sunflower is especially amazing. Thanks for sharing your lovely garden.
My pleasure! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
Other than craving garden-warm tomatoes, I’d say the golden tickseed caught my eye. such gorgeous blooms! Holy cow on that sunflower, one strong and determined stalk! 💞
Oh, the tomatoes are going fast, Dawn! 🙂
The sunflower, and another nearby, have now been tied up to the fence. I’m amazed the stalk hasn’t given way yet. 🌻
Coneflowers are grown as an agricultural crop in the county adjacent to mine. They are used in the herbal medicine industry. Meanwhile, I simply enjoy them for their drooping petals.
I imagine fields of them must be spectacular to simply view and contemplate, Swabby. You’ll have to share some photos if you get a chance.
Beautiful! I love sunflowers and those big red tomatoes!
Both turned out much better than expected, MM. I’ll be making some tomato-based dishes this weekend! 🍅
Yum. What dishes are you making/
Besides the obligatory sandwiches, I also like to chop them to put on top of some lightly toasted bruschetta with sardines and basil. 🙂
I’ll also halve them, top them with some minced garlic and parmesan, then toast them.
Okay, now I’m getting hungry… 😋
😋 Delish! I know what you mean about obligatory tomato sandwiches. A classic.
Sunflowers never fail to impress. They are something else.
Very much so, my friend. I’m having to tie the stalks to a nearby fence to keep them upright. Hoping the birds and squirrels will enjoy the seeds once they appear. 🌻
You should be proud! Impressed with your tomatoes.
Many thanks, Sheree! Of course, it’s a constant battle with the caterpillars, birds, and squirrels trying to get their share, but so far we’ve been victorious! 🙂
Long may you prevail
I really love the cone flower. Such an interesting shape! Don’t think I have ever seen one before.
The sunflower looks great, even if a mutant. I definitely need to start incoroporating more flowers in my drawings.
And I LOVE that you show a vegtable too each Friday! Every sandwich needs tomatoes and I could make a whole lot of sandwiches with that bad boy 😄😄
I’m so glad to know you enjoyed these photos, Andrea. I’ve had to tie two sunflowers to the fence because they became too top-heavy with the flowers. Not sure why they turned into such monsters, but they are lovely to look at every morning.
And I’d love to see more flower doodles. I can’t imagine what situations you’ll put them in. 🙂
Also, agree with you about tomatoes on sandwiches. I’ll be doing that later today!
Fabulous flowers… and wonderful tomatoes!!!
Thank you, Luisa! They’ve been wonderful…juicy and full of flavor. We prefer these over the ones we often get from the grocery store. 🍅
You are so very welcome my dear Richard!
It was my pleasure as always!
I am lusting after those tomatoes…a juicy tomato/cucumber/garlic/olive oil/salt salad would hit the spot in this summer heat. Enjoy!
That does sound wonderful, Miss Parker! I’m not sure how long our plants will produce once the heat of the summer kicks in, but for now we’ll enjoy what we can get. 🙂
We used to have gerbils who would go mano a paw with you over Sunflower seeds.
That’s hilarious, Pat! I’m going to let these go to seed and let the wildlife enjoy the output. Perhaps a few handfuls will make it to my chickens, as well. 🙂
I hope they will enjoy it as much as our gerbils did.
If those are currently blooming in tour yard, all I can say is, “You must be living on a different universe!”
You saw what my sunflowers look like from yesterday’s post.
I guess I’m living in the season of anticipation.
Ha! I think we just got an earlier start, but I’m sure your sunflowers will be putting mine to shame very soon. We have poor soil here, so seeing these take off like they have has been a surprise. 🌻
