I captured the photo above late last week as I sat on the back patio with my dogs. Traffic on the road out front was light, so I enjoyed the late-evening birdsong and the light wind blowing in from the northwest. It was a simple, tranquil moment.
A late evening glow, the last of the daylight
slowly dimming as it passes below the horizon and
I sit and watch it, quietly, thinking back on
my day and feeling the cool air on my
face.
A beautiful palette of color, like a fluorescent light
show, a triumphant goodbye to what was and
a glorious introduction to the coming night.
I prefer sunrise to sunset, but I won’t deny that both can be equally beautiful. Do you have a preference?
RB
As an early bird I prefer sunrise also, but I see many more sunsets this time of year on my way home from work (I have to drive ‘into’ them) Stunning photo and poem, Richard! 💞
While sunsets may be beautiful, driving into them isn’t exactly fun!
Thank you for the kindness, Dawn. 🙂
Tranquility indeed prevails and weaves the words to the picture!!!
Totally loved it and with such a vivid description❤️
Yeah, both dusk and dawn have their own charm but I too prefer Dawn as it’s highly uplifting 🥰
Hope you are doing well?
With love
Aparna 🌷
Thank you so much, Aparna! I am well and hope you are feeling better, my friend. 🙂
Just beautiful… The photo, the poem and the moment you described.
I like both sunrises and sunsets. They are so different in emotional meaning. The one is full of promise of a fresh start and the other a winding down. I think I might have mentioned this before but my favourite sunrise was when the landscape was covered in snow. As the sun arose a gentle pink glow all around us, touching white trees, hills and dales. It felt like heaven. It was the first time I had seen the sun rising over the snowy landscape.
Take care
Thank you so much, Morag! I appreciate the kind words.
The view you mention sounds amazing. I haven’t been around snow enough to have had the opportunity to see it at dawn or dusk, but maybe someday.
The way you describe it sounds like a painting. Perhaps you can try to capture it on canvas. 😉
I would love to do that Richard, it’s on my list… What did you say? Maybe some day 😄
I’m glad you were able to capture the fleeting moment of transition from day to night.
Thank you, Swabby. It was hard to look away long enough to pull out my phone to capture it.
Tranquil, is the first word that comes to mind.
Both the picture and poem 🙂
In some of my drawings I have tried to replicate such a sky, but it will never be as magical as the real thing.
I think I prefer a sunset. Especially near a sea or lake, so you can see the sun dissapearing in the water 🙂
Thank you, Andrea! And that’s very true, it’s sort of magical seeing the sun and the evening colors slowly receding into the water.
Lovely Richard.
Thanks, Pat. I appreciate it.
