I was walking the dogs on a trail we hadn’t visited in a while and found a little Christmas tribute someone had built where two trails crossed. I’d originally walked by it without noticing, but caught site of it on the way back to the parking lot.
I have no idea who built this or how long it’d been out there in the woods, but I had to stop for a few minutes to admire it. It made me wonder if I was the first and only person to see it. It’s not a well-walked trail.

It looks like the artist found this small pine sapling, decorated it with bird feathers and ornaments made from palm fronds, and used pine cones, pieces of wood, and a palm frond box as the ‘presents’ at the base. They also added the words on the wood pieces. Peace, Love, and Joy. The writing on the fourth block appears to have smeared.
Whomever did this didn’t do it for recognition. No, they did it simply to spread a little beauty, a little whimsy, and perhaps to make a stranger smile.
So, thank you to the artist behind this. Mission accomplished.
Have you ever come across an unexpected piece of art?
RB
That is as pure of a shrine as a shrine should be.
Agree completely, Swabby.
What a lovely surprise! I love that they are all pieces from nature as well! 💞💞💞
It was such a cool discovery and so beautifully done. 🙂
Love this! It always puts a smile on your face.
Absolutely! Random smiles for whoever passes by. 🙂
I saw 12 blue birds scampering up and down the wide lawn from tree to ground. Their energy made me smile. The rich blue color of a bluebird feels like dreaming.
That’s awesome! I’ve never seen that many together, but I imagine it would feel dreamlike.
One of many small ways in which we bring a sense of joy. A respect for creation is part of expressing hospitality; highlighting something to share with others.
Hospitality vs littering.
Absolutely, Jasper. Using the bits and pieces nature provides to create a thing of beauty and inspiration.
That’s brilliant! I love the idea of making organic art that fades away over time. So lovely of you to spread the beautiful message.
Thank you, Morag. I couldn’t let this pass by without sharing it with others. It’s incredibly inspiring.
I like to cross paths on beaches with sculptures made from driftwood, shells, etc. They always intrigue me.
It’s so cool when people find inspiration in things we mostly pass by without notice.
That’s really beautiful!!! Such a generous thought and how meticulously they made that star! Totally loved it ! Though I have never come across such natural art pieces but yes murals and paintings on walls … have spotted that !
Oh, I love mural art, especially when it’s in an unexpected place. Street art is under-appreciated.
This really did give me love, peace and a whole lot of joy 🙂
I love how it is made from organic material, instead of the usual Christmas tree with all the artificial decoration.
Who ever made this, deserves the spotlight!
I don’t usually like gravity, unless it is done really well.
There is a city Poland which we cross when we go there. It has almost an entire galery of gravity art in a random part of town. Very meaningful pieces too.
Next time when I am there, I will take pictures!
Maybe even see if I can replicate it in my own style! 😄
I’m so glad to hear that, Andrea! And yes, the organic decorations made it even more special. I mean, the artist even took the time to weave those palm fronds into ornaments and a gift box.
I’d love to see photos from gravity art, as well as your interpretation. 🙂
Hahah oops, I meant graffiti, not gravity 😅 Sir Newton is not involved.
You must have been confused. Damn you, English language 🤭
LOL! I thought it was some new genre of art I hadn’t heard of yet! Well, guess we now have to make it a reality! 🙂
Great share, Richard. Glad you are taking the opportunity to share joy and inspiration this cold morning marking the end of the holidays in the US.
Thank you, Pat! We all need a little smile every now and then. 🙂
Most definitely, Richard.
