Did you know that you experience time differently than I do? For example, per Einstein’s Theory of Relativity (and yes, I’m a science nerd), if I’m standing at sea level and you’re standing on a mountain top, time moves faster for you due to lower gravity. So, technically, you would also be aging faster than me.
I find this fascinating because it means that time is different everywhere…not just everywhere on Earth, but on every celestial body in the universe, as well as in the space in-between. Even people flying in aircraft are experiencing time moving faster than the people on the ground. Weird, right?
We stand together, but we’re moving at
different speeds. Altitude and distance can
make all the difference as we seemingly
experience the world together, yet still
milliseconds apart.
You stand next to me on slightly higher ground
and the next thing I know you are gone, far into
the future, leaving me to watch the world
through my eyes alone. Time waits for
no one.
Of course, we all experience the world differently from one another, but have you ever considered that we also experience time differently?
I know, deep thoughts…hope you’ve had some coffee!

I feel time is the enemy I cannot escape as I age. Oh how I would love to go back in time, knowing what I know now.
I often wonder about that, and would it be beneficial or dangerous. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, MM.
Fascinating! It’s like a brain teaser.
Very much so! Thanks for stopping by, Morag.
You are welcome. I’m looking forward to resuming my posts in the new year.
Enjoy your off time while you can! 🙂
😊 Thank you
Time seems more slow when we’re children than when we become adults as time flies by, almost helter-skelter.
I liken it to a runaway rollercoaster, with hills and valleys, unexpected turns, and breathtaking excitement.
I often see people for whom time is moving slower. They come across with a very different personality or air about them. The label is impatience.
So very true, Jasper. I appreciate your perspective.
I intended to make a tongue in cheek response, but I guess there is some truth to it.
Time flies when you’re having fun, for sure!
Absolutely, Michelle! 🙂
Sound like you found a wormhole!
I don’t mind keeping my age, but can I have my knees back from 10 years ago, somehow 🤭
But yes, time is something I think about often.
As a child, it seemed to go by so slowly.
And now… how is it even the end of year already!?
But also, as a child, I didn’t mind waiting at an aiport. Browsing the little shops was fun and I never felt like I had enough time to take it all in.
As an adult, a two hour wait takes ages.
I did have my coffee, so I really absorbed the words of your poem. And they are so true!
Glad you had your coffee, Andrea, and I’m right there with you on the wish for younger knees. 🙂
Time is an interesting thing to consider. Thanks for taking the time to comment, my friend!
Well that is just fascinating! Sounds like a fantastic plot for a sci-fi novel! 💞
Hmmm, that’s something to consider. 🙂
Thanks, Dawn!
Richard – your words capture a poignant truth that we are together, yet still milliseconds apart…. How true is that!!! You know now the space in between actually feels like a bridge! Perfect read 🙌✨
With love and warmth
Aparna 🌷❤️
Thank you for the kind words, Aparna. I always appreciate your comments. 🙂
Means a lot to me ✨
Warmest thoughts and best wishes for a wonderful Christmas. May the peace of the season wrap around you like a favorite blanket.😇✨
Interesting view Richard
Thank you, Sheree.
I had never thought of it that way.😲
Time is not the same for everyone.🌠
I’m glad I gave you something to think about, Hitomi. Thank you for stopping by. 🙂
Very interesting Richard, and you’re right, time waits for no one.
Thanks, Wayne!
