As winter slowly approaches and everything outside my window begins to fade from green to brown, I think about all the flowers I’d admired over the past six months. Despite the drought, I was lucky enough to have a decent showing of colorful blooms around the house. At least, the pollinators seemed happy with the selection.
I felt inclined to paint one more series of wildflowers before I switch to more seasonal inspirations. The pieces below were all painted with acrylics using brushes, palette knives, balled up paper towels and plastic wrap, and a sponge. They were done on 12×16 canvas paper, a 10×10 canvas board, and a 12×9 piece of canvas paper. Please let me know if you have a favorite (click the images for a larger view).

Lovely paintings. Beautiful colours. Is there anything you can’t do RB?
LOL! Thank you for the kind words, my friend. I am nothing more than an amateur explorer.
I’m glad you liked these canvases.
All of them are lovely. The one with the trio of yellow blooms speaks to me.
Very kind of you, Swabby.
Yes! me too – it has a glow in the contrasting purple! (but they’re all amazing Richard!) Regards, Linda xx
Many thanks, Linda!
I love them all and they bring such joy since everything out the window is covered in a thick layer of white. Beautiful, Richard! 💞💞💞
Thanks so much, Dawn! I’m glad I can add a little color to your winter world. 🙂
I love them all, but the purple speaks to me. Very nice artwork, Richard. I agree with Pat — I think your artwork would sell at an arts and crafts show.
I appreciate that, MM! Maybe one of these days… 🙂
I like the two top ones best… They remind me of gloaming here in Scotland, especially in summer (the twilight lasts a few hours). The sky becomes a gentle hue , going from peach to lilac, that lingers for so long.
That sounds so beautiful, Morag. I’m glad those paintings resonated with you. 🙂
😊
The second painting stood out for me. It captured the randomness of how flowers mix in with what grows around them, somewhat standing out to announce itself to the pollinators but not grabbing all of the attention.
Thank you, Jasper. I tried to make each one somewhat unique and to capture a different aspect. I’m glad you enjoyed that particular piece.
These are coming along, Richard. Depending upon the price, I would consider any of these if I saw you at a local arts and crafts show. Keep up the good work.
That’s incredibly kind of you, Pat. Thank you!
