We passed by a fairly secluded pond on our walk this weekend and I noticed the way the early morning sun was breaking through the tree branches. I captured the photo above with my phone before the pups dragged me away so they could smell a nearby tree stump.
There was something sort of magical and serene about that brief moment by the water. A few birds singing quietly in the distance, but otherwise complete stillness. A nice moment of Zen to start the day.
Cool air holds the smell of the water, its
still black surface a mirror of the heavens.
The sunlight, golden beams, filter through the
branches and ignite the leaves in morning flame.
I take a deep breath and hold it for a few moments to
try and capture the feeling, holding it inside long enough for
it to adhere to memory.
Do you have moments of Zen when you’re out in nature?

Absolutely wonderful, Richard! I could feel the peace of that moment until….SQUIRREL! πππ
Only dog owners really understand…. π
All the time when I’m out riding
That’s wonderful, Sheree!
Nature is always a Zen moment for me and your picture and poem capture it perfectly!
I am definitely having huge Zen moments in Egypt at the moment, while exploring the underwater world! But also moments of laughter, because fish have such big characters, it is hilarious and entertaining!
Today I witnessed a Moray Eel getting a dentist session by a cleaner wrasse π
I’m glad you’re having such a great time in Egypt, Andrea! I’m looking forward to seeing the illustrations you create based on your underwater adventures! Thanks for stopping by. π
Lovely picture and what a beautiful poem! Totally loved it. It must have a bliss to be there and write about itπ·π«Άπ»
Thank you so much, Aparna. It is a lovely spot early in the morning before the other dog walkers show up. π
Yes, I chose a home near the river partly for this reason.
Oh, very nice, mate! What a great environment for relaxation and inspiration.
Love the picture and the poem. Looks further north than Florida. I have had moments like that. WP is going out of its way to ensure this morning is not one of those mornings.
Thank you, Pat. Most people think of beaches and swamps when they think of Florida. And while we do have swamps here in the northern part of the state, it’s also very hilly with lots of state and federal forest land.
