A couple of months ago, I was contacted by the City of Tallahassee Communications Department and asked if I’d be interested in being a part of a video promoting animal adoption. Of course, I said yes. Nearly every dog I’ve had over the years was adopted from a shelter and I’m always happy to spread the word.
The interview went well and both Peppa and Chili seemed to enjoy being on camera. Perhaps they were hoping to be “discovered” and becoming stars.
Earlier this week, the local animal shelter posted the video on Facebook. I think it turned out really well and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they used quite a bit of my interview, as well as using audio clips as voiceover for a couple of segments.
If you can, please give it a watch and let me know what you think. Animal adoption is something I’m passionate about, so please support your local animal rescue groups.

Wonderful interview, Richard! πππ I love that you have such a heart for rescues.
I am a huge advocate of rescue pets as well. All but 2 of my dogs were rescues (and those 2 were inherited from family that passed away). All but 2 of them were seniors (my first rescue was 4 months old, and one of my latest rescues was 6 – she came as a bonded pair with her 13 year old mom). My cats were all rescues as well, except for my latest who came through a friend. Atlas’s mom passed away and he needed a new home – a difficult situation for an 11 year old, blind cat. He’s adapting very well into my household and is currently keeping my feet warm. π
Thanks so much for watching the video, Dawn. And thank you for adopting so many special pets. πΎ
Thank YOU, Richard!
I think I’m the lucky one. Each has blessed my life and taught me so much. π
Wonderful video. You look great ad do your 2 dogs. (Had to say that. )
What I appreciated in watching the video is the thorough overview the team gave to understand the importance of each step in the process to ensure a higher rate of “success” to the benefit of the animal being adopted and the person adopting. One needs to be much more than well-meaning when deciding to adopt. Disappointment is a tough teacher.
Thanks, Jasper! Glad you enjoyed it. I agree, the team did a fantastic job on the video and I’m hopeful that it’ll help to increase adoption rates.
I admire folks who can adopt and save animals from shelters. Well done.
Thank you, Devonne. They all deserve loving homes.
There are few better feelings in this world than helping an animal!
So very true, Michelle.
This is wonderful news, RB!!
It sounds like you did a fantastic job promoting animal adoption, and it’s great that the City of Tallahassee is using your passion to spread the word.
It’s clear how much this cause means to you, especially since you’ve adopted all your dogs from shelters. And I love that Peppa and Chili got their moment in the spotlight! Maybe they really will become stars!
Thanks so much, Aparna! I appreciate it. π
Thought you came across really well in your segments but our 4-legged friends were the undisputed stars of the show.
I thought so, as well, Sheree. Thanks for watching!
My pleasure Richard
I think I am crying.
What a wonderful set of babes were portrayed here!
i want to afopt every one of them!
And I agree with what was said in video. I personally have have a few favorite breeds, just by looks alone.
But what really steals your heart, is a petβs personality.
I especially like those who are quicky and playful in the best way.
And I think I said this before⦠yes, I do want to get rich!
Because I would be able to give pets and animals the best life.
Your dogs looked amazing i n the video. As well as, all of the others!
Just the joy in their little faces whrn they got run around, sleep comforably and get scratches in their favorite areas!
Thank you, Andrea. Pets are wonderful things – they are companions and friends, they give us unconditional love, help relieve our anxiety, and they don’t ask for much but a little bit of love in return.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video, my friend. πΎ
Watched the video and loved your segment. Great job, Rik
Thanks so much, Pat. π
I tried over 14 times to comment on your previous post about abstract art (12 from my cellphone and 2 from this PC), Not sure what this means but this is what I get. Nonce verification failed.
Weird! Not sure why it’s giving you problems, Pat. Still, I appreciate that you tried to comment! π
