Banned Books Week – Let Freedom Read Day

Posted on 2025-10-112025-10-11 By RB

Today is the last day of Banned Books Week 2025, but it’s not the end of the fight against censorship. Let Freedom Read day is an opportunity to take action and do something, even a small thing, to stand up to book bans and censorship. A quick post on social media, on your blog, or simply buying a copy of a targeted book can help.

Awareness is the first step. Many people may not even know why books are being banned or how it will affect them and their children.

The American Library Association (ALA) has provided a handful of resources for you can use to spread awareness and make a difference. And not just for this week, but for all through the year.

Don’t lose the freedom to read what you want, when you want, be taken away.

Books are important.

Thank you for helping bring awareness. When I grew up in South Africa many books, movies and songs were banned so that the apartheid government could keep their propaganda going. Thank goodness for sanctions in that time.

My pleasure. I’m hoping the U.S. isn’t heading in that direction.
