There are only two days left in Banned Books Week and I feel hopeful. I’ve not only enjoyed conversing with the people who were kind enough to comment on my posts this week, but also seeing posts on other blogs and on social media. It show me that people do care about books, about the freedom to read, and about the First Amendment.
The freedom to read
Is the freedom to see
The freedom to learn
The freedom to be
The freedom to read
Is the freedom to grow
It’s the freedom to seek
It’s the freedom to know
The freedom to read
Is the freedom to teach
Gives us freedom to find
Gives us freedom to reach
The freedom to read
Is the freedom to lift
It must be protected
It’s such a precious gift
Our freedom to read and access to books is slowly being taken away. Once it’s gone, there’s no guarantee we’ll ever get it back.

Fabulous poem, Richard! 💞
Many thanks, Dawn!
I’m fortunate it would never happen in France which is a nation of book lovers
You’re very lucky, Sheree.

Very timely message and poem, Richard.
I appreciate it, Pat. Thank you.
Very welcome.
I couldn’t have summed up books or reading in a more impactful way!
Books have helped through very dark times and are still one of the few things that keep me sane.
Your post have really opened my eyes, because I never knew it was this bad.
And indeed, looking at the other people commenting, many people agree. Now, that’s beautiful 🙂
Thanks so much, Andrea. Books have done the same for me.
I appreciate your stopping by to read my posts and for your comments. Cheers!
