One of the joys of my day is watching my two mutts playing in the back yard. They take turns chasing one another, rolling in the grass, and generally acting silly.
After fifteen or twenty minutes, they’re both panting and ready to go back inside to drink some water and rest up for the next round.
Recently, I grabbed a photo of the younger one, Chili, as she caught a cat nap (pun intended) after a play session.
Energy depleted,
you ran at full speed, circling
the yard, kicking up blades of grass in
your wake.
You and your sister, broad smiles on
your faces as you experienced the simple joy
of just being alive
on a sunny day in September as I laughed
and shared your happiness.
Are there simple things that bring you joy during your day?

Why can’t I leave a LIKE? Nice Dogs.
I’m not sure, Paul Paul. But thank you for trying!
Delightful share.
Thank you, Pat!
I love watching my 2 ‘new’ dogs running, playing, and exploring the yard. I love when the ‘shy’ one comes to lay her head in my lap. I love how my most senior one does his best to respond to my call, even though he doesn’t feel good enough to. I love the wags, silly ‘smiles’ and joy in their whole being for the simple pleasures.
That’s wonderful to hear, Dawn. I don’t know what it is about dogs, but they always make me feel grounded and content.
Please give your pups a few belly rubs for me. 🙂
Ahh ok, I guess my comment again did’t make it.
I can’t remember exactly what I wrote in my original comment other than that sogs make EVERYTHING ok again. I think they could even achieve world peace. Just by doing their adorable, silly little doggo things.
And a sleepy dog… that will probably evem solve world polution!
They have magical powers :))
So your poem makes so much sense! 😄
LOL, thank you, Andrea!
And yes, the world would be a much happier place if dogs were running things. 🐾
Too many things to mention but I do enjoy watching my neighbours’ dogs playing together. So, I can appreciate your poem.
I’m glad to hear that, Sheree. 🙂
