On a recent dog walk at a local greenway, I spied this beauty peeking out from a clump of greenery. I hadn’t seen this flower before and immediately took a photo so I could look it up online. Turns out the passionflower isn’t that uncommon. There are three varieties, all produce fruit, and they can be grown in your garden.
I was mesmerized by its beauty. Like a little alien or a deep-water jellyfish.
I stand immersed in a sea of green and
spy a flash of color
Blue and white and yellow like
a beacon of harmony
Bioluminescence
I pause to admire the bloom and
wonder how it got here
Alone in the midst of a forest
Surrounded by strangers
Perhaps it found its way here
As a mission to bring light
where none existed
I take a mental picture and
smile
Leaving it to brighten another day.
Have you ever encountered a flower blooming in an unexpected location?

Fine poem, Richard. Is this your latest passion?
Ha! Your sense of humor is blossoming, Pat!
Yes we have a weed growing from the drain pipe and it is really thriving, more so than my plants! I must try to capture a photo.
If you get a photo, be sure to share it! Thanks for commenting.
I absolutely will. It’s not flowering but growing steadily.
