Can creativity be contagious? I think so. Apparently, Albert Einstein once said, “Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.” Although there aren’t any credible sources to confirm he actually said it, the idea isn’t wrong. Creativity is something that can be passed along from person to person, an infection of words and colors and sounds.
I know that I’m often inspired by others. Other bloggers, other writers, other painters, they all add fuel to the creative fire and keep me thinking about possibilities. I can watch a painting video on YouTube and want to try a new technique that leads to a new painting. Or I can read a thoughtful post on someone’s blog and find my mind going down a rabbit hole of ideas.
Creativity really is like a virus. Not only can you catch it from another person, but you can catch it from places outdoors. I can find inspiration in a landscape, looking over a lake’s surface at sunrise, or watching the wind shuffle a field of multi-colored wildflowers. It seems to be able to thrive in any environment.
Luckily, there is no known cure. Once you’re stricken with creativity, there’s no avoiding the symptoms. You’ll find yourself daydreaming and your mind will be filled with possibilities. Some may experience bursts of energy and happiness.
I recently walked through an art exhibition and walked away feeling funny. By the time I arrived home I realized I’d come down with a case of creativity. All the indigenous art pieces I had been viewing must have been infected. I stood for too long admiring them, leaning in to get a closer look, and inhaled a lungful of the creative bug.
If you haven’t shown any symptoms of creativity, I advise going outside to admire nature, or visit an art gallery, or even watch some art-themed videos. You’ll catch a case of creativity before you know it.
Have fun!

Such a great post!
Thanks a lot
I appreciate the kind words, Luisa! Have a wonderful weekend!
Oh you are so very welcome!
It’s my pleasure!!
I love creative people. Nothing makes me crazier than a student who blankly stares into space with no effort nor ideas pushing toward anything. Creativity is contagious, it is also a choice. Thank you for your post.
Very true, Devonne. I can imagine how frustrating it must be when students check out like that. Here’s hoping they eventually catch the creative bug! 🙂
If only musicality were infectious too
I think it can be, Sheree. It’s just another form of artistic expression.
All it needs is a little nudge…and some practice!
Obviously you’ve never heard me sing Richard
I haven’t had the pleasure, Sheree! Maybe one day you’ll share a few notes on your blog. 😉
My singing is tuneless and certainly not a pleasure – trust me!
Love your creativity
Better than morbidity
Being creative is fun
and never all done
Keep it as a proclivity.
Inspired by your post.
That warms my heart, Pat. Love the poem and I appreciate you. Thank you!
Oh very much so!
Art comes in so many forms. Some people write personal stories, other make poems, or paintings or songs or even just writing a bunch of keywords on a blank canvas.
And you know what?
I am going to be inspired by them in my own way! 😄
Translating their art into the art I am most comfortable with.
And I think that is just best collaboration.
No need to adjust, just visualizing it from your own perspective!
That said, I’d like to se more visual artist on WP. Maybe I am not looking far enough, but any painter, cartoonist, or graphic designer, or anything I forgot about: please let yourself known! 🙂
I love that you relate to this, Andrea.
And I agree, there don’t seem to be as many visual artists on WP. I hope they are out there just waiting for us to find them. 🙂
Wonderful post🥰👏👏👏
Many thanks, Hitomi! ❤️
Reminds me of the time I added a verse to a poem that was posted on a blogging site. The author loved it.
Very nice, Jasper! Collaboration can be fantastic.
