I think we’ve all been experiencing ridiculously high temperatures lately. Here in North Florida we’re almost hitting triple digits this week. It worries me that we’re seeing this kind of heat at the beginning of summer…makes me wonder what August will bring.
I’d really like a bit of shade
and a gentle, cool breeze
Just something to move the stagnant air
and keep the heat at bay.
The sun could hide behind a cloud
which in turn could drop some rain
But there doesn’t seem to be respite
on this hot and dreary day.
I think I’ll have another drink
and add a few more ice cubes
In the hopes it’ll keep cool me down
so I don’t melt away.

We’re currently 9C above average for this time of year and having the air conditioning conversation, again.
LOL…our air conditioning is nearly running all day long! But thank goodness we have it. It’s stifling outside.
We have a cool air current during the day with all the windows in the apartment open but it tends to die down in the evening.
Your poem conveys very well the feelings we are experiencing these days here in Italy too.

Same here. I thought I’d get out and mow the yard at 7 am. Was drenched in sweat in five minutes and was calling it a day after 10 minutes.
