I find it incredibly relaxing to watch my dogs enjoying a sunny day. It’s a moment of Zen for me, seeing them happy and peaceful. Both of my dogs are rescues from the local shelter and they had difficult lives before we found each other. Now they are spoiled rotten and don’t seem to mind.
The warm breeze blows across the green grass
carrying scents from mysterious places beyond the fence line.
Heads tilt back, eyes close, noses twitching
they receive messages from strangers and file them away
for dream fuel later when they nap.
The grass is cool on their bellies
and the dappled sunlight feels good on their backs.
It’s a good day to be a dog,
to enjoy just being.
And maybe later they’ll roll onto their backs
to receive their long-awaiting belly rubs.

Handsome pair. Very Zen 🙂
Thanks, Sandi!
Your poem really captures that feeling of a Dog Zen moment perfectfully.
I appreciate the kind words, Pat. We should all be so lucky to have lives like they do.
I love the photo of your dogs and your lovely poem 💙
Thank you, Louisa! They are good companions. 🙂
I can well imagine that 🐾💙🐾
Lovely poem! This can just picture the dogs getting along together so well.
Many thanks, my friend!
There the dogs are! Yess!
You can clearly see how much the enjoy sitting in the warm sun and the cool grass. And indeed, belly rubs will be the best part. 😌
When I tell people I wish I was rich, they roll their eyes. When I say clarify it will spent on giving my future dogs the absolute best life, all is good again 😉
My thoughts exactly, Andrea! If I were rich I’d buy acres of land and set up a no-kill shelter, then adopt ALL of them! 🙂
Good poem. I imagine that the dogs get along well with each other.
They are the best of friends. Thanks for stopping by.
