Poetry Moment – Rainy Days

Posted on 2025-05-14 By RB

Although I love sunshine and blue skies, there’s something to be said for the occasional rainy day. Especially when I don’t have anything on my agenda. No work, no pressing chores. I can open the windows to let in the cool breeze, smell the moist air, and hear the soft roar of the raindrops hitting the leaves.

Rainy Days

Laying in bed with a good book to

keep me company as the soft patter of

raindrops lulls me into a dreamy state

of mind.

The gray clouds drift by like a

careless thought and I feel a damp breeze

caress my face with a tender touch and

I sigh.

Soon enough the dreams take

over and I close my eyes as I drift between

the pages of my book and become a part of

the story.

We’ve had some rainy days here in North Florida lately, which are appreciated. We’ve been in drought conditions for a few weeks, so the plants outside are perking up and the dust and pollen are washed away. At least for a while.

Do you enjoy lazy, rainy days?

RB

I love the music and dance of the rain. Driving in a downpour isn’t my favorite thing in the world to do though.

I love the pitter patter of rainy days or even good downpour, as long as I’m inside. Lovely poem, Richard. Describes the low key vibe of rainy days perfectly. 🌧️
