After a major change in life, it can be difficult to find one’s footing again. The path becomes unsteady, we lose our footing, have trouble getting our bearings. But I’ve learned that it simply takes time to regain balance. And patience. A lot of patience.
Finding My Way
The clouds have rolled in,
dark and gray, a rumble of thunder
in the distance.
I close my eyelids for a moment and lose my way.
Disoriented, I stumble and stretch my arms
into the cold darkness, searching for something to
hold on to.
Time passes and eventually there is a glow
on the horizon.
Something to focus on as the darkness slowly
and quietly slips
away.
The path before me begins to reveal itself and
I cautiously step forward, one foot
in front of the other until
I regain my stride
and walk towards
the rising sun.
Dealing with loss is never easy, but eventually we learn to accept impermanence and find our path forward.

You’re more than welcome!
Well penned, Richard. Although we get through those periods, we always wonder when/how/why in the middle.
Thank you, Pat. I try to look at these times as moments of change.
